To my fellow Lobos,

This year marks the fifth year since Lobos C.F was formed. To be honest, I did not foresee us lasting so long as a team, probably due to a reluctant, self-delusive mindset rather than a lack of foresight. But we are still here, all of us, and if our recent showings are anything to go by, Lobos are still going strong.

Lobos C.F was an ideal; more than anything else, a creation of childhood desire and imagination. From my primary school friends, to the solitary match with the Chinese High kakis, to a slightly more fulfilling time with NJ03S13, I’ve never really had a team I could call my own, a group of passionate youths I could belong to. I thought I had it, when my army mates came together to form the NIE Legends, a team that has perhaps ceased to exist now. Yet, it was another spell of disappointment; it wasn’t a perfect fit, only a temporary farce that soon ran out of steam. An epiphany presented itself, at SP 40 SAR, an idea which was scoffed at, ridiculed, before slowly, disbelievingly, accepted.

How the Lobos came about

The tale always has many twists, but the chronological order runs this way. As most have guessed, friendship wasn’t the fundamental requirement initially; every player had a role to play, a skill-set that would serve the final project.

Leonard Chu. [LEO 25].

The first Lobo was Leonard, and he first heard the project ‘JX XI’, at least, that was the temporary name. Leo, ever reliable, ever dependable, was a steady defender from my NJC days, versatile and cautious almost to a fault. His marauding runs down the flanks provided much of S13’s attacking impetus, and a defensive mindset ensured that few, if any mistakes were made. Good natured and a completely devoted team-player, with simple, no-nonsense passing and finishing, any team would be glad to have him, whether on the field or the first man off the bench to provide stability on either side.

Sim Zhipeng. [ZP SIM 7]

Next was ZP Sim, a.k.a Zhipeng. I first knew him from a match near Cashew Heights, an encounter in which he entirely blew us apart with his dribbling and long range shots. Fleet of foot, comfortable with both especially the left, Zp was an explosive forward that could light up our forward line. Problems with ego issues shadowed his impact initially, as well as a severe lack of EQ, yet at our level, there are few forwards capable of such devastating impact. Leo and I gave him a call that night, and accepted grudgingly after some deliberation. Brilliant footwork and a cutting edge meant that our team had a dangerous look to it.

Tan Yong Hwa ‘Bobby’. [HWA 4]

We didn’t have any such problems with Bobby. Like Zp, his first appearance came at Cashew Heights, another one of Leo’s secondary school classmates. At that time, I felt our team needed a good body in the centre, a player with considerable bulk and ball skills to control the middle of the park. Armed with a cannonball shot that opposing keepers shudder to imagine, ‘Hwa’ as his jersey name states, was a solid building piece for a budding team. With his long legs capable of trapping any loose balls, as well as neat skills to get out of any tight spots, Bob was a player I coveted greatly, a crucial part of any team. He and Zp formed the next two pieces of the Lobo project.

Tay Yuxian. [KS TAY 20]

If Zp was a rapier, Yuxian was the broadsword. To this day, I’ve always felt that he was on another level compared to the rest of us. Intelligent, industrious and powerful, we had first saw him play for NJC, and then occasionally at the street courts of 40 SAR. I remember clearly Leo stating that if we wanted Tay to play for us, we needed to recruit Xianghui and Kanu, both whom went on shortly after to form their team Bunk3WatchYourFront, a team that preceded the Lobos. Yet, at that time, it seemed like a worthwhile exchange. ‘Half-naked guy’, as opposition teams like to call him, Tay made the rest of our passes look good, as he pummeled goal after goal with both power and skill. A huge presence on the forward line, our team looked capable of challenging the best at our level, any level, with ‘KS Tay’ on the prowl.

Ang Wee Theng. [THENGZ 13]

At this time, we had formidable forwards and a few invaluable utility players, but not a defensive specialist to anchor a defence worthy of challenging the best. Wee Theng I met in 40 SAR, and I was impressed by his positioning and heading. ‘Thengz’ has not disappointed, proving to be the ‘Weedic’ of our team on many occasions. Able to contain any aggressive forwards with his anticipation and intelligence, Thengz does have dirty tricks up his sleeve, a trait that makes our forwards breathe a sigh of relief that we aren’t facing him. Occasionally sprinting forward to aid the attack and cause chaos in the opposition, his enthusiasm and energy have made us a better team all around.

Liew Yew Tze. [TZE 5]

Yew Tze’s inclusion was totally unexpected, a bonus that came from a friendly match with Mingwei and Jeff Teo. Another NJcian, Tze mesmerized us on that day with his deft touches and intelligent link-up play. I remember messaging Tay after that match, which Tay replied ‘Great idea!’ Granted, his fever during his first match, our rematch with the NIE Legends, resulted in the recruiting of another crucial piece. However, Tze has proven to be our lynchpin, an integral part of our team set up. All attacks begin with him; as the first line of defence, he snaps at opposition players that venture forward. With his shrill yet commanding mouthpiece, he is the voice on the playing field; linking the play with tireless running, lightning feet and precise passing, Tze packs an accurate shot too, an essential player in any team.

Sum Yuchern. [SUM 3]

We still needed another defensive rock after Leo and Thengz; one can never have too many. It was then when Salas brought along his recommendation during the first official match, a diminutive-looking Sum Yuchern. With his long locks, ‘Angel’ style on his short frame, Sum surprised everyone with his tenacious tackling and impressive pace. As a running full-back, Sum adds another dimension to the attack; with his accurate heading (despite his stature), he has cleared many an opposition cross and shackled countless lost causes. As of now, it must be noted that Thengz and Sum (possibly due to little playing time together), have not conceded a goal when in partnership. Soft-spoken with a wicked sense of humour, Sum has proven to be another core piece to the puzzle.

Ng Congjing. [CONG 19]

If Yt’s initial absence proved any potential discomfort, it paved way for Mr. Nice Guy Congjing, another player which we never realized the importance till we met him. Leo got him at 2am the night before, after Yt went down with a fever, and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. Scoring a hat-trick on his debut, Cong has gone on a series of roles, finally becoming a vital cog in our defence, forming a good understanding with Thengz. Amazing stamina, matched with a calm yet tenacious demeanor, ‘el commando’ has made many an opposition player feel stretched and helpless with his positioning and brave play.

Ng Wee Leong. [BUTTER 1]

After all the players, Lobos still lacked a custodian! The obvious first choice was Leo, but then he was more useful as an outfield player. Thankfully, in another one of Zp’s recruiting match, we chanced upon an immensely brave and enthusiastic player, who saw keeping the ball out more important than bloody knees and wounds. Wee Leong made his debut in a friendly shortly after, impressing as he kept out shot after shot at the expense of his body. Willing to dive and scrap for the team, Wee der Leong, as he is affectionally called, has won the admiration of many opposing strikers for his willingness to sacrifice for the Lobo’s cause.

Liow Liang Fa [AFGNAIL 6]

Lobos now had all elements, a player for every position needed, except one: the sweeper, a ball-playing defender that could dictate play from the back. After consulting Tay and Tze, we narrowed down the list to Liang Fa, a confident player with good close-ball control and passing skills to complement the steel of the other defenders, and a good friend of mine from my Chinese High days. Not to say, of course, that he can’t defend; Liang Fa has the tenacity and positioning to combat most strikers on their day. Yet, it is his dribbling from deep and accurate long balls that have added another dimension to the Lobos.

Edmund Lee [EDMUND 11]

Was that all? Not quite. Many have seen Ed’s inclusion as more of a friendship thing (a course-mate from my literature faculty) and a player replacing Tay (still injured) while offering a valuable back-up to all positions. However, contrary to this analysis, ‘Edmundo’ has a wide range of attacking skills; keeping a cool (if too cool) head under most conditions, he is capable of exploding into action when the situation demands. Accurate shooting, packed with considerable power and neat footwork makes him a valuable asset to the attack-line, and his versatility and laconic nature makes him a unique character.

The other players

We did dally with other alternatives during the Dark Ages (when Zp frequently went missing, Tay twisted his knee, Tze had elephant ankles). A few notables come to mind: Hui Kai, an enthusiastic forward with good ball skills and powerful shots, and Tak Wee, a colossus in midfield with passing skills and great teamwork. For one reason or another, they have decided not to remain with us, which is a pity.

report: after a long lay-off, the lobos found themselves in the midst of their first almost-competitive match in a long time (there were other semi-competitive matches in the meantime, but the reporter was mia). anyhow, congjing arranged this match with his army friends yee chwan and gang, a team that the lobos have faced more than once. however, with the sun burning hot and rusty ankles kicking a rather hard yellow ball, it was going to be tough.

the team started (and ended) with leo in the keeper's position, wee theng at the centre with congjing to his left, jx occupying his right berth, yewtze in his usual free-roaming central position and bobby as the main target-man up front. due to a lack of personnel, the lobos had to play with a man short for the entire match, and the effects showed with everyone saying 'wah damn shagged' repeatedly during the ball game.

the scoreline flattered the lobos, with clinical finishing and tactical acumen more of a reason than pure overwhelming brilliance for the scoreline. cj and jx ran their socks off on the wings, wee theng was his usual rocky self with a rare (nicely finished) goal, yewtze ruled the midfield and bob was simply imbal, shooting at will and causing no end of problems. leo made a series of solid saves to ensure the cleansheet, and even managed to score two when wee theng took a breather in goal.

the first goal came when the opposition defender tried to clear the ball, only to blast it into his own net with a fabulous volley. soon after wee theng, in his many forages up front, clipped the ball neatly past the keeper in what was his first goal for over a few years. bob soon added a couple of goals; a well-placed shot from a yt pass and a header from a jx cross. jx then volleyed a screamer outside the box, before laying on for bob's next goal, a sweeping shot from six yards out. leo then added his brace; a well placed shot from the edge of the area, the second from a fast break, in which three lobos sprinted alongside bob as he advanced, before squaring the ball off to leo, who could not miss for fear that he would be killed by jx and wt. pesky yewtze, who had added his usual goal somewhere in the midst of the scoring, then finished off nicely from a bobby lay-off. ever-reliable congjing, while not scoring, was the start-point of many of these moves, and solid play and understanding with wee theng was vital to the win.

lobos may still be missing ronnie tay, but bob may remove those memories soon enough. powerful finishing coupled with strength and finesse, bob made sure that the defense was kept on its toes the entire match, not that it was enough. cue for you to return, tay.

we almost died. as usual.

quoteofthematch: 'where you all buy him from?!' opposition teams make a move for bob. manager hoberto mancini says no, of course.

conclusion: delighted with the way our team can still play. tactically disciplined, good understanding and link-up play, together with a trust built over many matches, it was a joy to play and watch. looks like project lobos, started five years ago, wasn't a wasted one.

chunavaro: finally the curse falls

with each lobo having his bout of injury some time or another, leo chunavaro, one of the last survivors of the healthy contingent, fell heavily after a clash with youngster yurio balotayi, who was playing as a makeshift keeper. the stout defender fell with a shriek, crashing heavily on the ground, and lay about moaning in pain. here are the explicit pictures. (leo in happier times on the left)

while current team acting skipper cesc fatzegas might contend that his elephant leg was more grotesque, it does not contain the fact that the lobos are a walking injured team now.

meanwhile, long lost hero ronaldinho tay has confessed that he skipped surgery due to 'personal reasons'. he has pledged to go see a doctor (finally). hopefully both important players will return for us soon.

i'm sorry for the super late post, but there were 4 other dudes who could have done it but didn't.

in the recent NTU Street Challenge, el lobos did themselves proud by qualifying past the two group stages, only to leave because of a stupid misunderstanding.

yewtze scored this one after jiaxuan hit the post twice. was an extremely physical match that the lobos should have won. but just a warm up. the highlight was bobby zooming off in his car to get congjing, who was late. steven from e lit deputised as our very reluctant goalie.

zp returns for this, scoring on his first attempt much to the rapturous reception of the soccer frenzy audience. slackers play some slick football, but are rapidly kiaped by some tenacious lob defense. things get ugly, lucky to survive.

surprisingly easy meat despite the presence of an ivp indian. zp scores twice, steven in his happy outfield role one, yt one and jx one. bob and cj prove to be a formidable wall.

looks one-sided. but to be honest lobos were a tad shagged. and facing a team filled with ivps, it was unlikely that they were going to let us have an easy match. zp scored for lobos, bob and cj barrier down due to steven playing outfield.

then we left because we thought we got knocked out. well done lobos. next year will be better.

report: this match was completed some weeks ago, but the reporter kind of lost his script, hence the delay. but here goes: mingwei, friend and childhood training partner of lobos' yewtze and a missing wee leong, brought his team to challenge a lively looking lobos, who is having a mini revival of sorts. having not located a ground to the satisfaction of both parties, ntu stadium provided the neutral battlefield.

leonard, after some excellent performances outfield, showed that versality and a failure to appease your gaffer could be detrimental by starting in goal. long lost rock wee theng lined up against recently traitorous congjing in a tried-and-tested defence. yewtze continued his good attendance with a role in the marauding circle, with edmund and jx completing the usual trio in attack.

with cj contributing with his energetic runs from the back, the lobos caused the kakis no end of trouble. wee theng repelled any attack that the opposition could muster, while leo managed to look more sian than he usually did. meanwhile, jx hit the post early on, after some good work by cj. after much confusion over an over enthusiastic center midfielder, which yewtze pointed out as the main physical damage dealer, edmund scored a poacher's goal by slotting home.

having been unleashed from his mundane task as a bored keeper, leo continued his rich vein of goalscoring form by netting a long range shot. shortly after, substitute and sleepy-looking bobby scored with a bullet header after a fantastic, pinpoint, almost unreal cross from a nonchalent looking jx. yewtze then scored a goal that was so sneaky that it couldn't be remembered. salas then missed a whole host of chances. and then with the score at 4-0, jx continued his own record of conceding by passing to an opponent, who proceeded to run almost inhumanly and score. anyway it was time to end.

report: one of the lowest scoring games, as well as shortest, the lobos showed that they were no pushovers by comprehensively beating han jie's team by three on saturday. it had been quite some time since the last official match, and the lobos were eager to shed rust and the all-too-familiar feeling of playing mingyao's andersonians week in week out.

with wee leong at the back and the usual trio of yewtze, jiaxuan and leonard playing together for the umpteen time, congjing made a rare appearance. driving his suave new car with brown hair to boot, this silent amiable assassin smiled his way into the match. providing a stable foil at the back to launch attacks, only sum could possibly have made a more solid defensive contribution. but the difference showed; where defensively the lobos were compromised (by not much), the attacked flowed.

as mentioned earlier, the match was rather short. yew tze banged in the first minutes after the kick-off, taking on almost the entire defense with a series of well-known footwork. the diminutive playmaker, wrestling control of the park with an ever widening hole in his trusty boots, finished well after a nice pass from cj. soon after, jx impossibly lobbed the bewildered keeper with a slightly, almost but not quite, awesome finish after some good work by yewtze on the left. the lobos worked seamlessly together, with leo and cj disgustingly calm and collected behind, wee leong looking bored and unperturbed, yew tze his usual pesky self and jx running circles around the opposition and himself. it came as no surprise then when leo struck a well placed shot into the corner after a snap pass from jx, wrapping up the match and bringing on the poser malays.

lobos at the crossroads; bunny girl puleo blocks the way

report - after dallying with mingyao's andersonians and yi ming's torreses, the team has hit the important question: what are we aiming for now? according to spectators and loyal supporters that have been staunched with the lobos so far, the players that make the team are a measly 4. something/13 (14?). cesc fatzegas, david holva, iker weesilas and a rejuvenated but seriously disturbed chu puleo make the numbers, with sumo ramos and joan fapdeviliang joining in at times, and the occasional appearance of sandres inilasta

chu puleo, despite his good garang performances for the espanic lobos recently, has a new nickname. 'el bunny girl', as he likes to call himself now, was caught recently parading his new bunny ears, red lips and sweet smile, while waving his cute lil' butt in red shorts. gaffer luis horagones has released a statement that he 'wasn't homophobic' and that players should be allowed their private lives.

but reporters have noticed that horagones has recently shunned the presence of puleo during private functions and parties. puleo himself has been caught dallying with a bespectacled scientist only known as reubs. some players were interviewed for their comments:

holva: 'honestly, we don't care about puleo's sexual orientation. but seriously, bunny girl?'

fatzegas: 'underaged girls, and now this? i'm not sure which is worse man. i know im not a very good example, but still...'

sumo: 'wtf.'

weesilas: 'so that's what he borrowed my butter for.'

puleo has been in rich form of late. scoring spectacular goals, including one good header from a even more fantastic cross from holva, one wonders if he has already sacrifice his manhood. fatzegas, on the other hand, has been caught up in anniversaries. his missus, whose age the press has politely declined to name because of censorship policies, have reminded tze nicely that the best age to have children is at 18. let's hope he remembers.

it's been a long month. hope everyone had a good new year and v day.

the few of us played soccer on saturday against some tci punks. old news is that we only had six of us, prompty reduced to five when i tore my sole again. new news is that in edmund we've probably found a second tay, albeit a less physically imposing one. and yes, we do miss you mr tay.

still haven't given up my aspirations of a dream team. i still have hopes that tay and yewtze will recover fully. the team spirit isn't as strong as it was supposed to be, and to be honest, we were getting it on pretty well at some stage last year. i think deep down inside, all of you guys want to be together as a team. we can still kick some ass.

anyway, here's an insight:

what man united needs now isn't carlos tevez. by all means, his statistics present a strong case for his selection, and he has scored some important goals. but tevez, for all his momentary link-up plays, doesn't really pass that well. he is short, yet not a terribly fast sprinter. stocky to an extent, but rooney's more bullish by far.

i think what carlos tevez presents is a solution to ole gunnar solskjaer. saha is too injury-prone to present a staple threat as a super-sub, so that's where tevez comes in.

the answer: karim benzema.

he is fast, strong, good in the air. maybe possessing most of the attributes of a certain ruud van nistelrooy. howere, benzema is more mobile. there are more facets to his all-round game. and there is the added advantage of youth. fergie can train benzema to match his game plan, and the forward can present a bigger goal threat than tevez will ever be. the transfer fee will be insane, but the kid is only 20. he will only get better.

imagine a forward line like this: cristiano ronaldo, irrepressible on the right; nani weaving his way on the left; wayne rooney in his best role as the withdrawn striker, and karim benzema at the tip of the spear. it's a hassle trying to contain one, headache to thwart two, an absolute nightmare to face three.

benzema's the man, the one that will strike all down.

score: minyao's andersonians 7 el lobos 14
scorers: zhipeng 8, yewtze 5, sum 1
attendance: 15.000

report: a high-scoring match where both teams played an all-out attacking suicide game that was pleasing to any neutral fan, but not to the managers. a clean-sheet was desired and not achieved, but a seven goal win is still good by any means.

the team started with wee leong in goal, leonard and sum as the defence, yewtze in the middle with zhipeng and jx on the flanks. two goals were scored in the space of the first five minutes, setting the tone for the rest of the morning.

(the rest of the goals are all somewhere else. i only can remember the score being 3-2, then 4-2. rest of them are lost in the sea of memories)

goals were exchanged. it must be noted that though zp scored eight (or nine), he missed around twenty chances. also, the domination did not pay off, as soft goals were conceded. wee leong was only responsible for one, a scott carson error which wasn't a huge issue, but not really a miniscule one either.

one thing to take note was that communication was found wanting. motormouth tze provided much of the solution, but after he was taken off, the formation pretty much collapsed. also, the defence on the wings was suspect, a problem which we always had.

i would give it to yewtze. but you can't leave a guy out when he scores eight.

showed a certain lack of enthusiasm in selling his wares, yet the beverages were equally pricey.

conclusion: nothing to crow about. lets move on to the next opponent with more seriousness.

i just feel like writing this. because in some ways it is too painful to keep inside. and i guess the some of us who care, really miss the times when the lobos line-up was this:

line-up: wee leong, sum, wee theng, yewtze, yuxian, zhipeng

subs: leo, congjing, bob, huikai, liangfa

don't you feel that the line-up is damn gay. even the subs are gay. wee leong's passing improving with every game, sum and wee theng as the rocks, yewtze gallivating about, yuxian rampaging whole defences and zp just finishing every darn chance. congjing and leo ready to fill in every position, bob with his power shot, huikai and liangfa ready-made for theirs. nightmare for the opposition.

our first ever match of the year 2008. nostalgia is in the air, as well as a tinge of sadness and regret at the passing of 2007. tears will be fallen, shin pads will be shattered, and great heroes will remembered. but lobos will live on. happy new year to all.

currentsituation: only me, tay and sum have seen our opponents in real action. possibly zp and bob have to, but anyway lets just try our best to make it good.

opposition: from what can be recalled, they have two main dangermen: one is a goal opportunist, the other the creative playmaker. the rest of the players are also of decent skill, but it is these two which we must keep an eye on. sum and leo will have to be on their toes: sum on the goalscorer, leo on the playmaker. we'll stifle them, make them come to us, and zp as usual, will kiosai 10% of his chances that fall along. if yewtze can play, leo can relax into his defensive role. line-up is subjected to the people who turn up.

conclusion: please let the gaffer rest for this match. he is very, very tired.

due to the impending arrivals of exams, and other pressiing commitments which we might have, training has been effectively postponed to after the exams.

somehow the training plan hasn't worked out that well, and i admit it's my fault there.

the ntu peeps, we'll have some fun if time allows. we've got enough people to kick some ass anyway. despite yewtze's horrific injury, it shouldn't dampen our spirits too much. he will recover, and if he doesn't, he'll always be a lobo.

report: just days after signing a carebear on loan, the lobos have swooped for playmaker edmundo kaka. a laconic and enigmatic player, the lobos will be glad to have him in their bludgeoning ranks.

the former njc and mat.engine player was lying around the free transfer market, playing around with fellow ex-njcians, before attending the ntu e lit academy for verbal abuse skills. there, he met manager hoberto mancini, who saw his wits and skills an ideal addition. after serious persuasion and some bribery, the player finally agreed.

with cesc 'elephant ankle' fatzegas sustaining a new long term injury to his ankle, the list of injured personnel means edmundo, together with loan signing roberto takyala, could not come at a better time. in the ntu league, these two players will be immediately thrown into the fray.

edmundo has excellent ball control, vision, and some sick stamina. he will fill either the void left by fatzegas, or play behind as a libero when bob gerrard turns up. with history of playing with great njc legends such as jerry 'insane' lee and jufri el dazzler, edmundo has experience with playing with the best. he will take the number 11, and having linked up well with vicente hodriguez on wed's friendly, will be raring to make more of an impression. with zhentan ibrahuimovic and takyala yet to make their debuts, it's time for a new lobo hero to come up.

'what crap.' was what edmundo said when interviewed by reporters. laconic wit indeed.

with the squad a healthy number in ntu, the lobos are certainly on the rise. at least on paper.

report: with an eye on the injuries and extensive list of commitments, gaffer hoberto mancini has brought in sweeper roberto takyala from carebear united to boost the ailing lobos backline.

with players such as walter sumuel, faberto carlos and leo chunavaro being called for international duty with NUS and church, it has left the lobos short at the back. in comes takyala for a trial loan period, hoping to impress the manager with his tenacity. with his ball skills and smooth calm deliveries, hoberto is hoping that his former tchs 2C teammate will become a permanent member, complimenting players such as cong scholes and bob gerrard.

'i'm not takyala la. i'm tako pachi,' said the shiny-eared dude before being dragged away by the PR staff. octopus balls indeed.

takyala's debut will be tomorrow at SRC, where lobos will be conducting their usual friendlies against the rest of NTU.

report: cristiano zhipengo, who recently celebrated his birthday on teacher's day, revealed an ugly incident in the dressing room today: nemanjang 'thengz' weedic a jealous dude.

supposedly gathering some financial gains from this leak-out to support his outside activities (drinking, boozing, drinking and girls), zhipengo, probably in a drunken stupor, shouted to a bunch of disguised reporters that thengz 'was angered by reports of bob gerrard being the most handsome lobo.' (zp and thengz attend the same accountancy class for peeps who have no idea how he got this juicy info).

'that was a total fluke! who is bob when the team have me!!' according to zhipengo, this is what thengz said.

fans will be eagerly anticipating a clash between the two hot dudes. the gaffer has been quoted to be relatively angry with zhipengo's lack of discretion, but is said to be looking forward to the fight.

Bob 'Suave' Gerrard comes close

report: pretty boy bobby gerrard once again proved to be the flower of the lobos' team, winning mr charismatic in a closely contested but obviously biased pageant.

there was no way bob could have lost, but some deep pockets and really questionable decision-making condemned the handsome dude to a measley title, when winning was a formality. but the dude was gracious in defeat, saying that 'if i had money, i would be mr world 2007. so it's not such a bad thing.'

'i would like to thank the lobos for being ugly mugs, thus making me even more sexy. it's difficult to be the focus of attention. tay remains in my heart though.'

the team would like to reilliterate our stand that bob is still the most shuai. cheers.

report: after a long standing transfer tussle that has stretched for eons or months, the lobos have finally announced that they have captured zhentan ibrahuimovic.

after erratic commitment problems by the team's forwards such as cristiano zhipengo, and injury problems to key players cesc fatzegas and ronaldinho tay, the new striker will hopefully link up with the his new teammates soon. the only uninjured and good-natured forward in the team, kai-jan huitelaar, will be hoping to make a bang with this new acquisition.

gaffer hoberto mancini has never kept secret his desire to sign his old friend. the two go a long way back from their playing days in tchs fc, when kicking around in a muddy field with zhentan's twin brother zhoutan. in that not-so-distant past, ibrahuimovic was a terror for opposing defences, as former tchs old boys in the hornyteam will attest to. never an extremely quick forward, he made it up with clinical finishing and unnerving skill. in short, a lethal weapon.

'i tried persuading him since the formation of lobos. but that cok always don't want to commit. need a weedic to convince him.' said hoberto in the usual press conference. 'aiyah, weedic or no weedic, just glad that stupid bong has joined.'

many of of the team have expressed delight at this new addition. faberto carlos was from tchs fc too, while the others are looking forward to playing with him. a ronaldinho tay-zhentan ibrahuimovic combination looks bloody deadly. leo chunavaro will be disappointed that he will not strike for lobos again, but then again, defence is much more suited for him.

on paper, the array of lobos attack looks mouth-watering. with cong scholes moved back to the role of a libero, there is still ronaldinho, zhipengo, huitelaar, hoberto/joe ho. and now zhentan.

the new lobo will be hoping to make his debut next week, assuming there is a friendly match.

inothernews: carebears united have expressed interest in lobos keeper edwin wee der leong, after the custodian denied them victory in a recent match with a string of inhuman saves. this is not the first time cb united has wanted a lobo, after the ronaldinho desire. manager hoberto mancini, despite falling out with wee der leong some time ago over wdl's sister winnie, has nonetheless slammed the press for suggesting that he might move his player.

'smlj. i don't even like his sister.' hoberto was quoted while throwing cookery at the army of journalists at canteen 5 restaurant.

with close friends such as bobby gerrard and fatzegas in the team, there is no way wee der leong would want a move away. neither would he be allowed to. and that is the end of it.

report: only four lobos turned up for this match, and the carebears kindly offered to loan the team a forward for numbers. before the match details, the gaffer would like to thank the dudes who bothered to make it down for the match after giving their word. tay, my apologies, sms malfunction.

the team started with wee leong in goal, sum and leo as the defence, jx and carebears' striker likoon as forwards.

as with every other team we have faced since the very beginning, the opposition drew first blood. one of the carebear's forwards latched onto a loose ball and drove it home. leonard drew us on level terms soon after after a forage up front by sum. a nice cross from the former ny guy, and an opportunist finish from the player striving to make the goal scoring role his. anyway, leo was suffering from bouts of hangover, so the goal was really a relief.

a horrendous backpass from jx brought the carebears level. playing without both his big toenails, the manager/player did what he had always been preaching - no square balls under pressurizing circumstances. a series of industrious solo runs did not bring respite, except a very nasty injury from the hottest guy in ntu hss. but luckily, li koon managed to finish a one on one opportunity, which once again evened things out.

fatigue was one main concern, and despite wee leong's efforts in keeping everything out, the carebear's forward did what he had threatened to do from the very beginning. getting the ball completely clear on the left, he took a swing at it which finally eluded wl, and giving the carebears their lead, which they sought to protect.

jx finally got his goal with a nice backflick after confusion in the opposition defence. and 3-3 it was.

everyone played well, even jx. but you can't deny a dude the award when he dives full-length on the concrete floor just to prevent a rebound. the sort of attitute every lobo should strive for.

a friendly match with the nicest team, a good way to kickstart the new season. let's hope injuries and rough play do not marr the occasion.

currentsituation: we'll have just the minimum number of people for this. wee theng and possible-new-forward zhenhui have some nbs bash; liangfa has something on, and so has congjing. yewtze has his tuition, bob has his catwalking. huikai hasn't yet replied, so the rest will have to make do.

tay will be trying out his knee, zhipeng will attempt to offset the new signing, sum to prove his indispensability one more time, leo to show he is no nus slouch, wee leong to bring his sis along, and jx to shout tactics from the bench hoping huikai comes, if not the gaffer has to sweat.

opposition: they are caring dudes, so we'll just have a friendly game. for further info, refer to previous post.

report: huikai took longer than expected, so here's what happened.

if we were to delve into details of the match, i would be woefully shorthanded. the truth is, the team attacked well in the opening ten minutes, zp missed three glorious chances, and that was about it. other than two opportunities spurned by jx near the end, the team did not threatened as much as a two goal deficit might have suggested.

just a summary of the goals (80 mins played):

oppo goal 1 (22 min): swai-ji forward gets the ball. 1-on-1 situation with wee theng. thengz in two minds whether to commit or not, and the forward clinically finishes.

oppo goal 2 (37 min): didn't catch it clearly, but looked like a fast break which caught our forwards off-guard.

zhipeng's goal (60+min): blocked by a sea of bodies; all i can remember is the ball hitting the back of the net, zhipeng pumping his fist into the air. and the initial feeling of relief.

oppo goal (73 min): swai-ji big man loops ball over wee leong. game set.

it should have been over long ago in fact. the loss stinks, and it's the second in the row. but that's the least of our worries.

other than the usual trio of players who couldn't make it for various reasons, two very crucial elements in confidence and energy were clearly missing. yes, the opposition was very physical and manhandled the players throughout the game. but on the energy level we were found wanting thoughout the entire match. offhand, five players did not have five hours of sleep, and who do we blame?

will try and work things out. hope you guys are with me on this. even with tay out of the equation, the team play gives little hope for the future. there's too much quality to be wasted like this.

to his credit the dude never gave up. not saying that anyone slacked, which definitely wasn't the case, but i saw him go up again and again against that big guy with a look of fierce determination, devoid of any resignation one would have expected and not scorned.

our first loss. need i say more?

currentsituation: apparently yes. we've got a couple of injured players, and some very busy people. but i'm sure the six of us who played the last match would liked to see some defenders turn up. we've got four, dammit, and the one who came (leo) was the keeper. if cong hadn't played a great match, we would have died.

right now, the confirmed list includes bob, cj, thengz, weeleong, zp, liangfa. lack of firepower not a dire issue now, nor is the defence needing an urgent fix. leo will be turning up, but having camp the day before means he is incapable of playing a full match. sum has family priorities, but has stated that he will try to make it. assuming that huikai and liangfa turns up, we have a more complete team for once.

tay wanted to try out his knee, which could have spelt a revival. but latest news has it that he is headed for thailand. yewtze has family commitments, and will give this match a miss.

despite the absence of two key players, the defence is reinforced by the presence of more defensive specialist, and it might be a positive result for us this time round.

don't think our new striker on trial will be present on the day itself. at any rate, there are ample replacements. huikai will be looking to add on to his impressive turn-outs.

opposition: they are committed, fast and very physical. zp needs to get the better of his aj senior at the back. their full backs like to run up the flanks, hence the forwards might need to help out in closing them down.

pity sum's not confirmed coming. their strikers are opportunists, and need to be handled asap, whether technically or physically. cj might need to defend once again, as yewtze had trouble handling the big men in the middle.

conclusion: would have loved to be available for this one. the team is more balanced now. on paper should be a more favourable game.

the important things to note: a team of six (1 reserve). we have 12 players, hence we can actually send two teams. i'm typing this on the super big assumption that everyone is considering turning up. and of course, with varsity and everything, there is always the possibility that everyone will not be free.

continuing with the team assumption, we can either split the team equally, or just send a stronger one and a weakened one. personally, i don't think it makes that big a difference. going by a random machine:

team 1 - weeleong, sum, liangfa, bob, zhipeng (yuxian)

team 2 - leonard, wee theng, yewtze, huikai, congjing (jiaxuan)

this is completely random with regards to each player in each position. and team 1 looks slightly more balanced. injured personnel as reserves are a liability, but then again, you can put someone who's not in the team.

kai-jan huitelaar - gunning with the lobos

report - gaffer hoberto mancini unveiled the team's latest acquisition - kai-jan huitelaar.

the former armour hq player fell out with, or rather, lost contact with his most recent unknown team. hence, the deal was wrapped up with the minimal of fuss. huitelaar even turned up for a trial-match last saturday, and scored a belter from 1.5 metres out on his unofficial debut against shuan zhang and his merry men, thus endearing himself to the ever-enthusiastic fans.

huitelaar will wear the number 8 shirt, a number which associates with great players such as rooney.

the move for huitelaar is seen by many seasoned managers as a sensible and shrewd one, due to ronaldinho tay's lengthy knee injury. however, as hoberto puts it, 'no player is ever a replacement for another.'

"huitelaar will have his own place in the team, that's for certain," announced the manager in his usual well-attended press-conference. "i'm sure he will make a significant contribution to the team, and help us smooth over the loss of ronnie tay, the lost form of zhipengo, and the very lost joe ho."

kai-jan could not be reached for comment. however, he will make his official debut for the lobos this saturday against old foes nie legends. players such as fatzegas and wee der leong are thrilled with this team signing. however, since the player is neither a 15-year old female nor a platter, we shall see the progress of huitelaar on saturday.

admidst the waves of transfers going around during this annual summer shopping spree, much speculation has been made regarding the bobo lobos' involvement in market. the frantic transfer activity has seen man utd sign hargreaves, nani and anderson; the lobo fans think they at least deserve something to be excited about.

"i think we're at least as big a club as man united, chelsea and liverpool, esp pool. real madrid wants kaka, barca wants cristiano ronaldo, and yea.. though we have our own ronaldinho tay and cristiano zhipengo, we need a new breath of fresh air. and some handsome new faces," said the spokeswoman of lobos supporters' union, the sexy bombshell miss kitty bimbola.

the statement holds some truth. despite bobby gerrard and joe ho's return from injury, disaster has struck the team:

ronaldinho tay twisted his knee while chasing after a lost cause in the match against swai-ji.

cesc fatzegas involved himself illegally in a charity match which saw him hurt both knees.

nemanjang weedic kept himself in the news with a viral fever, and then promptly knocked himself out with some hard liquor.

walter sumuel has turned up for training looking very tired, suspicously looking like a dude having an unwanted sex hangover.

faberto carlos reported to the medical officers, complaining of stomach pains and subsequently turning up late for sessions and matches.

however, wee der leong has had some serious steroids for the last few matches. he has repeatedly thrown himself at loose balls and dangerous looking feet, which is rather disturbing. cristiano zhipengo has turned up more regularly, and despite not finding his scoring boots yet, has shown some lethal form. cong scholes has remained his usual consistent self. leo chunavaro displayed some enthusiasm regarding attacking, which in normal circumstances would be quite worrying. hence it's not all that bleak.

gaffer hoberto mancini has been diplomatic regarding the transfer news.

"with ronnie tay and cesc tze down, we do need an attacking edge," said hoberto. "however, i'm confident that we have the players to step up. of course, any reinforcement candidates which the players have in mind will be seriously considered."

"the main issue now is attendance. there's no point being ronaldo if you don't turn up. in that sense, even pennant is more useful."

hoberto is understood to be fiercely loyal to his players. however, the loss in the previous match saw a whole team of attackers lined up against the opponent, which no doubt left most supporters bewildered. spokeswoman bimbola was esp vocal in the protest, and for weeks after there were rumours of a new defender. hoberto moved in swiftly to squash them, but with the latest injuries and discord, one or two players would fit in nicely. names have been mentioned, old friends have been talked about.

report: it's not about the loss that we should be worried about. i think everyone gave a fair effort, and though contribution wasn't effective on some parts, i think a draw would have been a desired result. tay's injury was nerve-wracking though, a very severe blow to our team aspirations. this is how the match went: (please forgive for inaccuracies)

the players who turned up were all forwards. no specialised defenders, no specialised dms even.
clearly a defensive effort was needed.

the team started off with leonard in goal, congjing and yewtze in a makeshift defence, tay and jx as the holding midfielders behind zhipeng. a cautious approach, to cover any defensive inadequacies. which backfired somewhat, due to tay instinctive forages up court and zp's sudden defensive mentality.

within minutes the team was two-nil down. the first, a moment of indecisiveness from jx, which allowed the opponent to chase a ball that should have been cleared sooner. despite the acute angle forced by the player, the opposition forward manage to get a shot in, a powerful one which leo could not save. the second, was a one-on-one chance. due to lack of understanding between the players, the ball was allowed to run, and the oppo striker made no mistake. as we feared: clinical and physical.

tay pulled one back, doing his trademark move of twisting past the attacker, turning the other way around before blasting the ball with his left foot. however, this served little to stem the tide. the ongoing midfield battle between yewtze and a pissed-off looking fellow was not going our way, due to superior height and size. hence, the team was left with nothing but long balls.

one goal a piece from tay and the opposition brought the scores to 3-2. by now, the formation had reverted to tay and zp forwards, jx in the middle, with the behind intact. with half time approaching, the team tried to muster any source of energy available. to no avail. pressed back, only some last ditch defending by cj, and some safe keeping from leo kept the score down.

after the break, a play of genius brought the team level. a long punt from leo was unintentionally hit to perfection, finding zp at the edge of the box. even so, zp needed composure and astute control to bring the ball down, before turning and finishing past a startled keeper. having missed 90% of his chances so far, this goal brought the team level, albeit rather undeservingly.

then disaster struck. just when everything seemed to be going our way, tay challenged for a stray ball, and as he missed, fell awkwardly. twisting his knee, it was three minutes before his teammates realised that this injury was for real. the shock barely settling in, both sides were reduced to five.

tay came back hobbling to be the keeper some ten minutes later, thus someone tall from our side was finally allowed to defend. suddenly, the guided long passes from the opposition were cut off, as leo started to impose himself. 'heheh i bet u guys are happy now. got defender behind liao.' leo, you don't know how true your words were la. at any rate, yewtze was freed to play in his usual role. jx and zp on the wings, and the play started to open up. however, a mix-up between cj and new keeper tay allowed another forward to sneak through. 3-4. this doesn't mean the defence was less steady; mistakes are made anyway. and cj was already playing the game of his life. life's just unfair sometimes. anyway tay reinjured his knee due to some ill-advised return to outfield duty, the situation looked bleak again. in all, leo was out for some ten minutes, headed away a dozen crucial balls, but yea it looked sad again.

jx, who had been struggling due to a bout of food poisoning, chose this moment to spring out of anonymity. the defender had obviously not been expecting anything out of him, and thus was stunned when the foward turned and cut past him. a quick burst of speed, and a decisive finish which leveled the score(s).

the lack of substitutes was taking it's toil though. due to fatigue, the players were not able to cover as effectively, especially jx, who had spent all his energy wastefully chasing defenders. a lapse from his side, and the opposition full back was able to chest the ball into an empty net after a mix-up back in defence.

anyway it's a damn long report. damn tired. good game. but i need to say this: if sum and weetheng were here, even bob, or tay had stayed healthy, don't think we would have lost.

anyway this is serious guys. someone's challenging our honour here. we've not lost yet; it's all been wins and a solitary draw. but then again, never have we met an equal foe. never has adversity threatened enough to force a temporary fusion of teamwork and character. and believe me, this is not the best of times to face a test of courage and will.

wouldn't have wanted the trio to miss this, esp sum. got this niggling feeling that some really serious defending will suffice. composure will be crucial.

leo, with his toe injury, will keep. wee theng and congjing to defend, yewtze to play a more defensive and dominant role. up front zhipeng and tay. word of caution: please do not camp in opposition territory, unless it's for the purpose of marking out the ball holders. forwards do pick your man, esp the running full backs as they open up the play.

not confirmed whether liangfa is turning up, so cj reverting to the full back is a calculated risk. tay to link up with him, as two of you would when pairing up front. if liangfa comes cj to come off the bench.

opponents: all school team players by the looks of it. ny, aj, sa etc. means that there will be the presence of discipline which is so dangerous, and which is what we've been trying to instill unsuccessfully at times.

objective: to fight for one another. to hold the fort. to cover any blind spots. so many times this has been emphasized, and for the simple reason that we can do it. please, let us defend as one for once.

report: before the recap begins, i would like to, with reference to the team picture below, unnecessarily thank everyone for turning up. for the first time since this team was formed, we had every player in attendance. from 'el disappearado' zhipeng to 'el shadowe' wee theng to 'el cashe-minde' leo. the team pic, courtesy of xianghui, was a very nice take too.

too many turned out to be bad thing though. so i'm not sure which scenario we would prefer. anyway, on to the match proceedings.

the team started off with wee leong in keep, wee theng as the lone last man, bob playing the role of sweeper/dm, yew tze at the lower head of a three prong attack consisting of zp and tay. to further elaborate the use of this tactic, it was thought and ironed through, so as to neutralise the threat from the opposition. due first time usage, it was not surprising players failed to adhere to the formation.

hence as usual, the team conceded first. not taking anything away from opposition player kanu; it was an impeccable finish. also, as mentioned by the team manager before the beginning of the game, any goal conceded was not wee leong's fault at all, regardless of the cause. hence, among the desperate finger pointing, the team fell behind once again. this period of gloom lasted for roughly eight minutes before zp struck to draw level. sighs of relief all around, especially from the defenders.

yew tze then tried to take on the entire defence before making a stray pass to the wrong person. but luckily the wrong guy was on the same team, and sum made use of the disarray to net his first strike for the team. a whoop of pure delight spelt volumes.

half the team was subbed out; with congjing already in the game, leo came on for yew tze, as did liangfa for wee theng. tay snapped his mediocre streak by finally netting after missing a host of chances. and 3-1 it was.

jiaxuan then subbed on for a limping kanu, and scored with his third touch later after wee leong collided with sum (all sum's fault, not wee leong's) . this traitorous act was somewhat less hurtful when the player refused to celebrate. however, the resulting effect was an unwanted one. spurred on by kanu's substitution, teamwyf proceeded to net two more, much to the utter shock of yew tze and bob, who were adulterously chatting, happily, on the sidelines.

tay didn't look happy at that. and in his attempt to regain someone's attention, took on the crippled full back, spun him around and blasted past the stunned keeper.

the opposition keeper was not at all demoralised by the setback, and continued his good form to deny the team again and again. with the score evenly balanced at 4-4, zp pounced on a loose ball, took it in his stride and side-footed it home. less than five minutes later, opposition no. 10 xianghui, with a sudden burst of acceleration, took the ball past our defender and buried the shot beyond wee leong, who as a good goal keeper should, covered every possible and impossible angle.

due to the horrid weather, and that the opponent had graciously played with no subs from their team, a one goal decider was decided. and tay scored to end this match, which to our opponent's credit, was a great one.

long awaited rematch after the previous fiasco. tay, zp, sum and thengz missed the last one, so hopefully all will turn up. hopefully no weird personnel will turn up, especially eastern europeans.

currentsituation: sum has not replied, and wee leong has stressed upcoming exams as a reason for a possible absence. hence leo will start in goal, with probably bob and wee theng as the two centre backs. yewtze will as always continue in his pesky dm role, while congjing and tay will lead the forward line.

bench includes liangfa, zhipeng and me; the conserved energy will prove crucial.

opponents: for those who missed the last match, you can take a look at the post on 20th jan 2007. one thing to note is that kanu should be playing in the centre midfield role, though after reading this the opposition might change position. at any rate, yewtze needs to show more authority in midfield. as mentioned by them, lionel might be leaving early. other than xianghui and xianjie i have no idea regarding the rest of the players.

let's just make sure we stick to the gameplan. tay, as usual, just mark out the defence. cj, will require a more defensive effort from you. likewise for zp when coming on. will switch players on according to the opposition's offensive plans.

objective: would like to say that the team is improving, but we have yet to gel as a unit. more communication definitely, as well as coordination in marking. tay to take charge of the forward line, tze and gang to make up the first line of defence. defending, of course, is better done as a whole.

aim for a clean sheet. though wl might not come, leo is definitely capable of filling in the shoes. if sum turns up we could have a good game.

report: despite rather reluctant and very ill-disguised attempts to cover up their dangerous liasons, bobby "boob" gerrard and ronaldinho "horny" tay have finally let slipped some dirty linen to the public eye.

lovely caresses, murmurings of sweet nothings, and some under-the-table action seemed to have render the world oblivious to the loving couple. or so they self-envisaged.

here are the photos. and some commentary.

tay gearing up for some mouth action. which is quite er xin, but as long as bob doesn't mind, i think it's not up to 'the rest of us'.

bob tries to act coy, but tay looks on with an amorous look on his sex-deprived face. the clawed hand does nothing to hide his intentions. everyone in the hawker centre, including the scrawny brown shirt guy in the back ground, looks on with baited breath.

SUCCESS! bob has no choice but to give in to his heart. and desires. the look of intense happiness on his face, and the sudden shine on his ang moh hair expresses everything. probably tay is doing, or has done something under the table, but respecting their privacy, the pictures are not taken. but at any rate, the affair is out in the open. bob has decided to come clean. tay could not have been more delighted at the change of events.

in an short interview later, the couple, holding each other's hands tenderly, expressed total disbelief at public disapproval of their relationship.

"i don't know about the rest of the people, but i love tay, and that's it. I believe we have done nothing wrong! We were just trying to simulate some changing gear actions so that we can drive better behind the wheels," said bob emphatically, slamming his fist on the table. tay immediately picked bob's hand up and tried to sayang it.

"gays are people. and as far as i'm concerned, others can talk and stuff, but it will never change things. god, even sum and wee theng are.. oops i said too much."

The Outsider: Easter-ly Wonders

Easter Sunday, a day of Rebirth and Resurrection. . Not only did we celebrate and rejoice on this Holy Day, we witnessed the very miracle unfold upon us in our humble grounds-just like the few Believers and Disciples of Jesus in the bygone times.

Ronnie: George Best chose to be resurrected in the form of a stocky-half naked guy, with a fetish for blue cheese. His resurrected form did unfathomable moves, twisting and turning, and ghosting past defenses. Best’s notorious philandering habit was given a modern twist- his Easter day re-carnation apparently is a faithful man. I wonder who is this ‘lucky’ GUY to have won his heart.

Wee der Leong: It was a timely Re-birth for him on Easter Day. No longer the Butter Keeper on Easter Sunday, his Ascent was nothing short of a miracle. Even if you were to throw Easter Eggs at him, he won’t concede. Wee even kept his teammate Bobby Gerard at bay when Bobby tried to do a Kamikaze.

Moan of the Match: Attendance was a spectacular ZERO. I wonder why some churches are getting Bigger and grander.

Generally, it was a good effort put in by everyone for the match on sat.
Defence was as usual, good, except for the 2 lapse which we conceded, partically the second goal that we conceded. 2 defenders and 1 goalkeeper could not stop the SRJC No.10. To be fair to the Wee der Leong, the shot was so hard that he could do nothing, but i think that the defenders could have done better.
Another point to note was that it is important to see before passing the ball. On a few occasion, the distribution from the defenders to the attackers were poor and we wasted the possession unnecessary.
I have to comment on walter sumuel bravery, and it was also agreed by nemanjang weedic. There was once when he dash to block a shot that was rising and almost hit his face. Luckily, it deflected off his chest.
The attackers, as usual, wasteful. However, we start to see some fluent play which was lacking in the past. A great improvement I would say.
Wee der Leong seems to be bored as he did not get to make much saves. I would suggest that we loan him out to the opposition so that we can have some shooting practice on him and he can try saving our shots. Don't need to worry about him, afterall, he is Edwin Wee der Leong. (",)

Even the best player will run out of stamina, get injured or unavailable and that is when the depth of the squad is tested. Afterall, you cant possibly play alone covering all the position against 6 players. I would say that every player is important as they cover different roles and bring different dimension to the team. So far, as the vice captain, i am still satisfied with the squad that the gaffer had brought together. We can be in the team as we meet certain standards that the gaffer have in mind and thus, everyone must have confidence in their abilities. So liangfa, be confident about yourself and just try your best. Even i myself have been shooting blanks lately... Haha. (",)

i suppose the bulk of you guys hopped on because of friendship and football. or maybe that's how most of you see it. but three months have passed since the team came together, and maybe it's time to tie up some loose ends.

some individuals have shone more brightly than others, and while disappointment is not prevalent, there are some areas which need improvement. i would say this is a very good problem to face; it would be disastrous if this project were to reach it's limit in the stage of infancy.

i used the word project, because to my knowledge, not since the age of football's ascendancy has anyone attempted to patch together a bunch of young men. at least, not to my knowledge at our level. it's always people, who through common backgrounds and similar characteristics, seek a higher stage of bonding in a group. that's how teams come together. but we were different; strangers when we met, now friends we are. despite contrasting personalities and even more parallel paths of life, we came together.

liangfa mentioned last saturday about being 'not good enough'. i disagree. i think it should be quite clear now that each and every one of you guys have a role to play. it should have crossed your minds that picking a wild card out of nowhere has only the potential to breed awkwardness and discontent, rather than bind. there are exceptions, of course.

whether it is sum, wee theng, liangfa or leonard as defenders, bob and yewtze as the dm, tay, zhipeng or congjing as the forwards, the most important thing is to give one's best on the playing field. by playing to each other's strengths, and covering the exposed weaknesses. refrain from approaching me and listing the reasons why the team should play to your whims and fancies, so that you can perform to your own individual best; don't waste time.

if any of you should once again doubt your personal contribution to the team, i'll take it as a personal insult. i don't doubt my scouting ability, and neither should you.

i think i should have cleared up any doubts. so let's move on from here.

review: after some mental preparation for a strong rv team, scouts were severely condemned after 2gsmb turned up instead. it wasn't so much that we couldn't beat them; rather, we were hoping for a stiffer challenge that was definite, and not expected.

due to our inability to book the court, some challengers too flooded the court to make a statement. after a failed attempt to hoodwink the invaders (or habitants), 2gsmb had the honour of an internal battle with their soon to be battled counterparts. due to horrific finishing and as zp puts it, 'playing like kids', the team was left sitting on the sidelines, waiting for the goals that seemed more elusive by the minute. as the players moaned and sighed after each seemingly close opportunity was wasted, accusing fingers were pointed at team manager/player jx, who in turned pointed at one-time-organiser wee theng, who pointed at the sky, screaming for an answer which he wanted but could not find.

as the team stormed on the pitch when our turn came, there were signs of pent-up frustrations and a sense of overeagerness that, as often in the past, threatened to cause an unwanted scene of self-destruction. the rearguard of wee leong, sum and wee theng was fiery and steady as usual, but the attacking trio of zhipeng, yewtze and yuxian were drawing a blank. thirty minutes passed, and the bench was becoming agitated.

there is nothing wrong with playing 'arsenal style', except when the forwards do not deliver. from the start tay sought to shed this unwelcomed tag with some furious pressuring of the opposition defenders. zhipeng, despite his tag of a clinical finisher, was struggling somewhat with some unnecessary footwork and lacking in the necessary defending.

after the routine of hitting the woodwork a few times, zhipeng finally scored after some slick footwork from yewtze. as usual jx said something negative which leo nodded his agreement. so it is to be concluded that zp feeds off negativity.

the long wait produced what was feared: we could not leave the court. despite the constant changing of fresh legs and even fresher vehemence, the opposition could not find a way through the rotating backline of sum, wee theng and liangfa. leo then provided a pleasant surprise with a fabulous near-halfcourt shot which found the back of the net, which after he received congratulations from his teammates with an ill-disguised look of self-disbelief.

further goals from tay, yewtze and zhipeng opened up a gap, before leo grabbed his second with a nice shot from the edge of the box. the attack was flowing now, no one could stop us, as passes were thread around with decisiveness and creativity.

it was then time for the usual theatrics from the team, last week wee theng's acrobatics, this week some really wicked playacting by tay, who rolled on the floor, convulsing and writhing to the utter shock and chagrin of the opposition defender. bad blood could be smelt, the way tay jumped up with a really xia lan look, returned equally by a dulan defender. it is to be noted that though the rolling was exaggerated, the defender wearing a cap had evil intentions himself. so who gives a damn about him.

wee leong was doing well, and the two goals conceded were more of an accident than mistake. anyway, according to sum and wl, the sr no. 10 was just 'barging his way through'. so let's forget about it. jx was playing alright too, but made a better impression defending than attacking, despite no goals. wee theng, being more serious than last week, limped off with an injury to his shin, and liangfa filled in as an able foil to sum.

yewtze then grabbed his two goals, including one which sneaked past the keeper, leaving him looking rather foolish. tay rammed the keeper, then the back of the net, though no ploy was intended (i think). lastly, a hugely contested but obvious goal settled the match. too bad keeper, roy carroll you are not.

with angst and open hostility in the air, the team walked off before a fight could take place.

leo makes a good claim with his brace. however, tay was the one who instilled fear into the opposition. and his kaobei-ness built some fighting spirit.

currentsituation: sincerest apologies to congjing and bobby for the last minute change of date. you guys changed your activities from sun to sat, and i appreciate it. will try and confirm dates asap. feels weird without the two. other than that, liangfa has commitments on sat i believe, and will be sorely missed too.

review: both teams found the pitch invaded as NUS held their own soccer tournament without prior notice. this discourtesy was not taken well by the team, but the netball competition nearby did help smooth things over. hence, it was down to court B for some knockout fun, with the sea of faces creating a din, unfortunately not for us.

we went down first despite creating a whole host of chances that, not surprisingly, went begging. the team that started consisted of wee leong between the sticks, liangfa and wee theng as his defenders, yewtze the pesky dm, tay and congjing up front. bob joined the fray later on, but chance after chance the forwards spurned, particularly tay, who was waging war against the various assortments of defences, while cj was adjusting to the rubbery ball.

after some nervous moments the ball came bouncing out, and substitutejx was there to meet it with a fierce volley that spelled out months of intense frustration. 1-1. bystanders were amused to see his teammates gaping in amazement, but it was a good maiden goal anyway damnit.

after the equaliser, the tension seemed to ease off. yewtze grabbed the second after a huge deflection; nevertheless it was a good effort after he and tay had gone close on some occasions. weetheng seemed to have forgotten sum as he struck an understanding partnership with liangfa in defence, with the latter living up to his nickname as 'fardinand' with composure on the ball. bob was his usual steady self, yet the goals seemed to have dried up since the recovery of his knee. he proved the statement wrong with a blast from the edge of the box.

congjing then further upped his rising stock with a hattrick of well-taken goals. having gone close with a chip that sailed agonisingly past the post, the next few were a series of driven shots that found the mark. tay did the highly difficult stunt of hitting the posts simultaneously, and found himself repeating the act a few more times, before blasting a little too hard past a rather intimidated keeper. the bellow of triumph said more than words ever could.

having scored six on the trot, the team lapsed into complacent mediocrity. the weather was immensely hot, and wee theng, having been solid for the past hour or so, started giving heart attacks to his teammates with some really misplaced headers, one which was sent looping backwards towards a horrified bobby, who had replaced a weary wee leong. anyway the opposition took advantage of this sudden confusion to steal back a goal, much to the chagrin of the defence.

being as fired up as a tired team could be, the team piled on the pressure on various forms of defenders the opponents could throw up. however, being wasteful as usual, it took a while before goal no.7 came. a long ball from wee theng, which bounced rather high and awkwardly, produced a head on clash between keeper and player. inexplicably jx was there to head in the first headed goal of his career. 7-2.

highlights include some amazing acrobatics from wee theng, while bob shocked all the spectators by sliding for a ball with a significant degree of venom and desperation. signs of commitment there.

the opponent then scored one more to bring a more respectable look to the scoreline. but we didn't really care.

seriously becoming our rock; despite this overused expression it is more of an understatement here. if sum is indispensable, thengz is proving himself to be too.

Despite the Fanatics' antics, the team remained undaunted. Following the instructions of Hoberto, the team meditated dutifully on "KillerS" the night before the game . Our enlightenment paid immediate dividends. 7-3. Scores don't lie. Let's get low-down on the "killers" let loose on that bloody day.

Joe Ho: The greatest benefactor of this 'sick' Visualization exercise. Just like the boy who lost his parents in the woods, Ho-nnibal was a man on mission- seek and destroy, feed and enjoy.

COng Scholas: SHy, quiet and good-natured, this "Lolita" was innocent throughout the opening stages. But just like the 1980s flick, once the curtains' down, and the target's exposed & vulnerable,he hits with aplomb & style. Says alot about his cyber activities.

Ronnie: This de-converted bloodhound is a lost flock once again. Just as Jack the Ripper ran down loose women in the streets of London, Tay the Stripper will never let loose balls hang too long along the alleys of Bt Timah.

Fatzegas: Basking in His Love and Glory, the angelic FatzeGAS left the field with his halo intact. In fact, the Lord lent him a hand, deflecting a harmless shot in. Hal-le-lu-jeh!!

The addition of new Nike and Addidas balls to the club's assets placed the club's finances under intense scrutiny, as the club has always practised a prudent fiscal policy. Players play out of goodwill with no wages, no shirt (Ronnie), no boots (Ronnie), no fitness (Tze), no money to eat (Wee der Leong) and no fans. It's been believed that an imminent takeover by yet another mysterious figure is fuelling all these activities. Here's the Outsider's wish list for the players if the deal goes through.

Hoberto Mancini: His schizophrenic personality belies an innate ability to source out and coach promising youngsters to fulfil their destiny. However, when his ailment strikes, he keeps insisting he's Joe Ho. Maybe his love for this club has overwhelmed him. Time for a break, mate. And a psychologist please.

Ronnietay: Baring his heart, soul and BODY doesn't seem to increase gate recipts. Time to put something on, boy. The new owners will do well to dress and doll him up during matches.

Wee der Leong: Inspired by YouTube clips, he told Outsider that he would love to score an 80 yard goal against fellow U-23 rival Wayne, just like Paul Robinson. The New Owners would have loved that, but their immediate task would be to prevent Wee der Leong from being in the unfortunate shoes of Ben Foster (who was Paul's opposite NO.) Just pray more, Amen.

Liang Fardinand: Despite his sporadic appearances, the ease with which he just walks into the team's Bench is ledengary. His undoubted talent is expressed in other areas including tele-marketing, admin work, teaching and logistics. The New Owners would be pleased if the multi-talented Fardinand were to decide that he would work as their staff. Any other takers?

Fatzegas: A simple, uncalculative man. He just hopes for a decent wage and remuneration. $8 per hour, 1.5 times for Late kick-off, Transport reimbursement after 8pm, post-match free flow, and pre-match meditation.

LeO: Leo must have felt his heart tearing when he saw his fan (and the Club’s solitary fan) braving the Arizonian heat to support him. In spite of the on going debate about whether she supports Leo or the Club, the Outsider feels that her passion and love for him and the game warrants reciprocation. A beach umbrella isn’t too much to ask, is it? Besides with it, the receipts will soar at least 100% (based on the present match turn out of 1)

Cristiano zhipengo: The club never seems to get “enough” of him. A watch, alarm clock, organizer, and New Handphone, please.

Walter Sumuel: The Non-travelling Serangoon Man rarely ventures out of NIE for Soccer. If the club doesn’t want to lose away from home, time to invest on a chauffer.

Joe Ho: His chronic back problem is well-documented, and prevented him from playing regularly. The Outsider gathers that it could be due to his daily moonlighting in a place where back-stabbing is prevalent. A physiotherapist please.

Bobby Gerard: The occasional bust-up over financial disagreements has strained his relationship with the rest of the team. A supercomputer will be needed to calculate his financial status to his required accuracy, in order to maintain the hard-won harmony in the Club. Could the new Owners be Bill GateLey, Billionaire with intimate knowledge of the game?

Nemanjang Weedic: This Hot Dancer could use the half-time to dance the Club’s fortunes away from the red. Ballerina shoes, anyone?

Cong Scholes: Lover-ly boy with a lover-ly attitude. He doesn’t need anything from the Club; the Club needs his everything. More Cong Scholes please!

Undisclosed sources confirmed reports that Hoberto tried to sign the Hottest football graduates last year. It emerged from the club's archives that the twin brothers were trained the communist way, with impeccable technique and fantastic stamina. Coupled with telepathic passing and runs, it's little wonder why Hoberto showed keen interest at that time and even now.
The Communist High School (TCHS) which has churned out so many prodigies declined to name its alumni and its present undergrduates , but rumours has it that our Great Hoberto graduated from the Elite Institution too.

Spotlight - Wee der Leong

Coming under criticism is nothing new for Wee der Leong. In a bid to save his ailing career as the first-choice custodian and to keep his detractors at bay, Wee der leong called for a private training session with Fatzegas and Bobby Gerrad.
It was a typical display by our Custodian, full of verve and spirit. Due to the woeful finances of the Club, and the absence of a Finance Officer, the sorry state of our Official Match Ball was never addressed (and never will be). It served our Goalie well though, no more tricky balls and rocket shots. However, as time goes by, even the woeful state of the ball did no favours to the Barthez-tic Wee der Leong.
On that 'accidentally disastrous' night, he was thoroughly outfoxed by accidental shots and lobs. Incidentally his brother, a non-league amature was present to rub salt into his wound, when in fact, he's there to boost Wee der Leong's morale.
Though more work has to be done to source even lower league players to train and enhance Wee der Leong's skills and confidence(it proves to be a mammoth task), the Club must be heartened to count such a comitted player among its ranks. "Besides ROnnie's solo escapades, such nocturnal work-outs are the way to go," praised a club official.
Meanwhile, Wee der Leong is still quietly mending his 'accidentally' battered morale, admist the era of glitz and sleaze heralded by ROnnie.

Due to the erratic appearances of our Star player Ronnietay and the subsequent shevchenko-ic performances of our stand-in striker-force, Hoberto Mancini has been toying with the idea of a buying a new striker. Rumours has it that Qiobbie Xiaowler is being mooted to increase our strking options, especially since Ronnie's new culinary and peadophilic interest brings him overseas relatively often.
Qiobbie Xiaowler hails from the sacred grounds of Nfield, and is the prestigeous Academy's proud youth product. His effortless guile on the ball belies the final ball, a deadly venomous shoot, calibrated to sting even our "great" Van der Leong. However like many of his predecessors, he took on the role of the "Spice Boys" . And true to its tradition and spirit, on the pitch performance took a beating.
His fiery temper and nocturnal adventures proves to much for his previous employers at SAFFC. Currently unemployed, he's signing will be a coup. However, Hoberto is wary of him turning "Nameless United" to the "Spice Boyz United".
"I would rather have someone with a great attitude," mumbles Hoberto, "WEe van der leong is the epitome of this spirit. He's the BEST signing I have ever made."
Club officials declined to comment, but Hoberto has been sighted at his office all night, with his computer on. ASked if he's sieving through players' data and analysing scouting reports for potential players, he kept his usual cool.
"I apologize for leaving my com on and zao home. What were you saying?" he asked with a dazed look.
Unnamed souces link yesterday's abnormal Club sightings to Tay's close association with Hoberto recently.

here is a rematch, just to remind ourselves not to take everything for granted. we need to prove the previous meeting wasn't a fluke, and that the team is now stronger with the various new additions since last year.

currentsituation: tay might not turn up for the match as he is going to malacca. zp is out with a back injury, leo is never free on sats. bob will be damn shagged due to work commitments, if he turns up at all. so far only waiting for confirmation from wee theng; the remaining are all okay.

opposition: the bulk of them are still present. but one thing is, the strike force of kenny and adrian will be absent. alaric should be playing, so i think we should go for a more offensive formation. unless of course, he reverts to striking, then we'll have to reconsider. other than a couple of guys who might pose physical problems, we should be able to handle.

bob and yewtze both raised a good point though - white isn't distinctive enough. despite the classy look, i forsee problems with future match-ups; unless we qie the legends every week, most teams wear white. maybe we can get the pink t-shirts from royal sporting house - they cost about ten bucks each - as an away kit.

report: tay had a last minute commitment, and liangfa already said he wasn't free. but the rest turned up in what was the highest attendance since.. we formed this team, which is definitely something to be very happy about. had a few things to try out, which went through, all with varying degrees of success.

the team started off with wee leong as keep, sum and wee theng finally forming the much anticipated defensive partnership, bob as the dm in front of them. congjing took on the forward position, while yewtze played in the free role just behind him.

some things need to be experimented, but surely the backline was not one of them. complementing each other seems to be somewhat of an understatement; sum was freed for once to assist in the attack, while wee theng proved to be the rock, albeit an angry one. bob was his usual steady self, yt pesky, cj calm and composed. but finishing has always been a problem, and so it proved after we missed quite a host of chances. the opposition missed their fair share too, and there was some desperate defending from both sides.

zhipeng and leonard and leonard's girlfriend finally arrived ten minutes into the match. zp took the field after the twenty minute mark, as cj took a breather. the pace was now relatively fast-paced, with the horny dudes pegging us back for long periods. half time approached, with the scores still at nil-nil.

it must be said that horny keeper wayne proved to be a huge barrier literally, blocking goal-bound shots time and time again, while horny defender ka yun was always in the right place and right time to deny us. something special was needed.

it was a mistake from the defence that allowed the tall hornyteam dude to sneak in a shot, which slithered beneath the despairing lunge of wee leong. it must be noted that the sum-wt partnership wasn't there, because leo had subbed on for sum. it was not leo's fault however, as he had already made a foolhardy attempt to kiap the ball. but wee leong couldn't really be blamed either as the ball was so tricky that any keeper would have been fooled. so it's that tall guy's fault for mishiting the ball. anyway we were one-nil down.

after a few exciting exchanges which i can't really recall, the situation looked bleak. the sun was shining brightly, the heat was unbearable at times. then zhipeng, who had been repeatedly hacked down for nearly the whole match, took an unexpected swing at the ball, which eluded the whole horny defence including the huge keeper wayne, and GOAL! what a beauty it was, and i have to use caps and bold to emphasize. top right hand corner, with the venom of a pissed zp. game on.

there wasn't much time left, hence after some half-hearted negotiation between the two team managers, extra time was played. zp scored a lucky goal, sum and leo clashed to score hornyteam's game tying goal, and then jx came on for a five minute cameo. shit this is damn draggy la.

menofthematch: wee theng and sum
shared the award after a great defensive performance. the tenacity, technique, and most importantly mutual trust was there for all to see.

this is a team which goes back to the days of sec 1, the age when we wore our shorts high up, shuddered at the taste of alcohol, and believed becks was going to stay at man utd forever. the days of the street court still etched in my fragments of memory. no doubt, this probably will be the next level we seek. in terms of teamwork at least.

currentsituation: despite our recent disputes about team jerseys, it's time to set aside our differences. as of now (2 march 2007 1540 hrs), turning up will be bob, yew tze, wee leong, weetheng, congjing. tay and zhipeng should be able, leo has no choice. liangfa has something on, while sum is still unknown. so close to getting our full team, but we are getting there. tmd when we settle our team jersey please all turn up for photo shoot.

wee leong keep; toying with the idea of starting tay behind with thengz. but i think we'll start with bob and wt in defence, yew tze in the usual pesky role, tay and zp in attack. cj, leo and me sub first. if sum turns up, might try him and wt in defence.

opposition: i've known the bulk of them for nearly a decade. the street court defence of max and ivan is always worth mentioning for it's versatile playing style. then, at least. we've played with the maniac weilin before. richard, as read from their blog, is probably with zhiping their front two. not sure whether kayun or wayne will keep. in all, their movement quick, passing definitely better than us. defence please be on your toes.

tay physically getting the better of the defence, zhipeng to be clinical, and our own defenders holding out will be crucial. yewtze to contain weilin.

the enigmatic player, brought in to the team by energetic player leo chunavaro, has been a vital figure since his unexpected debut against the NIE Legends a few months back. however, the team will be surely be rocked by the news of recent rumours; i) his agent was spotted conversing with strange looking men in dark coats and glasses ii) teammate cesc fatzegas received an ominous call from his ex-pri sch classmate, stating 'heh we're after your cj'.

h0berto mancini has vehemently denied that congjing is available for transfer. however, the taped conversation between fatzegas and his shady friend has stirred up a storm of controversey and deceit. apparently tze, on hearing the proposal, said 'okay lor', without attempting to put off the potential poachers. the team will announce this week how much fatzegas will be fined, despite his successful organising of the soccer outing yesterday.

obviously cj scholes could not be reached for comments, otherwise it would be posted here. his powerful display in yesterday's session spoke volumes though, of an attempt to up his market value.

current situation: since we are playing at bukit panjang, it means sum is not coming. team attendance is thin: liangfa, weetheng and bob (down with chicken pox) aren't coming too. assuming we are playing 6 on 6, wee leong takes command as the last man. leo will defend, as usual, this time with either cj or tay. personally i think tay should play behind in that court, but ah well... zp and whoever doesn't play behind in attack. yew tze central mid, pulling the strings.

fiesty and fiery dm maliangadou diafa arranged his first press conference since his official joining of the team today. many anticipated the former saf player to berate his past employers and talk at length about his happy release last tuesday. however, diafa stormed into the room, and in front of a dozen bemused reporters, stated angrily that pink "is gay".

"i will quit the team if we get a pink jersey," fumed diafa, before adding on "no luminous green too." mumbling that he 'wasn't a homophobic dude but just a conservative guy', maliangadou then left abruptly, leaving the everyone in a state of shock.

no doubt ronaldinho tay and cesc fatzegas will try to change his mind, as they are advocators of the colour pink. tay has personally requested tight shorts, while fatzegas wants a pink team ball.

when the final whistle blew, i felt no euphoria, only derision; a dark feeling like a clawed hand of curved fingers that gripped my heart, and threatened not to let go.

why does it seem that every team in the region possesses technical players, yet ours doesn't. we sought four foreigners; two africans, one china man and a serbian. not one of them comes close to even the thai full backs.

enough of sg soccer. lets not play like them. rather lose than use brute force, though admittedly its not an option we have.

wee der leong apologises

wee der leong had call for an urgent press conference early this morning to address the heavy criticism of his performance in the team’s previous match. he had chose to remain silent for almost a week after he was lobbed twice in a match which see his team conceding an outrageously high number of balls in one day.

"hello everybody, first of all I will like to tell everybody that being lobbed in matches is my weakness. right from the beginning goalkeeping career in the Team BPGHS, i have a history of being lobbed by opponents." the rest of the team, most notably zhipengo, roberto conjing carlos and ronaldinho tay nodded their head vigorously and uninamously upon hearing that. wee der leong turned and gave them a cold stare before they stopped nodding.

wee der leong was lobbed in the middle of the game by a romanian who played like the legendary hagi, full of skills but lacking sportmanships in his aspect of the game. wee der leong was left fuming as he was left in no-man’s land after he charged out in an ‘one-on-one’ situation.

he cited, “ of all people why must i concede to somebody like him!?! he’s such a …..” At this point of time, manager hoberto mancini stoop in and interrupted “uh-erm, excuse me wee der leong!”

wee der leong then finished his sentence by saying “ he’s such a skillful player.” he stayed silent for a few seconds before bursting out “ I THINK HE PLAYED CHEATCODE!!! HE ENTERED A CHEATCODE WHICH MADE ME AND DIAFA CLASHED INTO EACH OTHER SO THAT HE CAN SCORE!!!” mancini was left embarrassed by the lack of gamesmanship in his custodian, as he struggled to hoax wee der leong into calmness by giving him some of his favorite sweets.

later on the match, wee der leong drew flaks again by distributing poorly and was punished heavily when the opposing striker lobbed him in a way that exudes pure class. wee der leong’s positioning was being put into the limelight after two high profile mistakes.

“i think it’s the glove’s fault! with the gloves, i can’t distribute well! NIKE should have manufacture gloves that allows proper ball distribution!” the crowd of reporters was all left bemused by such comments, and one reporter was heard shouting, “it’s the goalkeeping who wears the gloves that makes the difference!” wee der leong was obviously agitated by the comment but he did put his best to stay calm.

In the Q & A section, one reporter asked that he had observed that opposition goalkeepers did not have to dive here and there and conceded lesser goals, and he wonders why wee der leong keep conceding after numerous dives which left him two bruised elbows.

wee der leong answered in a nonchalant manner.

“people say that a good goalkeeper don’t dive as much, but I am different, I like to dive! In our line, we cant dive to get people sent off so we dive to entertain ourselves, if not I will be bored to death at the back. So lets see diving as a form of dance!”

another reporter also questioned the goalie about the rumour that wee der leong’s teammates were unhappy at the lack of command at the back by him.

upon hearing that wee der leong continued to sprout rubbish, " i think the FIFA should allow goalkeepers to bring loudhailers onto the pitch. after all we are suppose to give commands to the defence, without that, we will have hard time screaming at our defenders! i think i will go mute one day at this rate, even though my defenders think I am whispering to them.”

“ loudhailers can also be used to hit the defenders if they do wrong! if i make a mistake, the defenders can also use the loudhailer to whack me! isnt it good? i think it’s a brilliant way to build the goalkeeper- defenders bond which is always neglected by people in football through this method,” he added, with maliangadou diafa and walter sumuel clasping their hands in glee in the background.

at the end of the press conference, wee der leong also expressed delight that his manager labels him as ‘safe hands’, which drew direct comparison between him and his idol david seaman.

“he has history for being lobbed so do i!” he concluded.

in the mean time, the ex-BPGHS custodian is believed to be busy preparing for his autobiography named ‘butter-hands between sticks’ and so he will not be available for matches in the time being.

Amid speculations surrounding his lack of appearances and disappearances at training sessions, cristiano zhipengo has finally decided, after his lengthy hangover, to address his critics.

"i don't... party that much," slurred a heavy-lidded zhipengo, his head dropping off in a video interview. "i just wanna sic be close to babes, maybe sic sip abit of bloody mary... dance around abit, shake my lil' sic ass. yeaaa man, chill. i'm a young dude. i know... hoberto mancini has sic , like, talked to me quite a few times."

the opposition had two teams, both with outside players, so i'm really at a loss how to write a review. the truth is i'm very glad we pulled through without four key players, more explicitly our only two true forwards and two true defenders. that we beat them, and the romanian 'semi-pro' was a testament to the team's overall strength.

one thing to emphasize was that the long ball tactic was not used, only for a few minutes when an unsettling effect was needed. and more importantly, the team ethic was there. everyone fought for each other, tracked back when required. for me, i think the goals weren't important; the process was.

i think the team jersey put on hold first. play a few more, till everyone can make it. it's a special event in my opinion, and no one should miss out.

alas, tay is in taiwan taking on some money making scheme. it's his match, and leo's, but teamwatchyourfront insisted on the match. and i believe this team can carry on without tay. we should try; however indispensable someone is, this is still a team. there is no 'i' in 'team', and i think it should apply to us too.

currentsituation: line-up without tay for the very first time. wee leong in goal; sum and liangfa the rearguard, with birthday boy yewtze in his usual role. flanking will be zhipeng and leonard. congjing ready as supersub, bob and me ready if anything arises.

opponents: if you want a past experience, they are a physical team. technical-wise not bad. their dm is some aj soccer player reputably quite good. yewtze needs to clamp down on him. their star is undoubtly kanu, a skillful forward who brings new meaning to the word lethal. a couple of decent centre backs in xianghui and lionel, strong and fast. the rest i'm not too concerned. btw xianghui says he's bringing his relatives, so i'm not sure what he is up to. messy. probably tay can be back for the rematch.

report - less than a month after lashing out on leo chunavaro on his indiscrete paedophillic philandering ways, ronaldinho tay has unwittingly professed the he too, likes 15-year old girls.

despite adverse weather conditions, the team (still nameless cb), the half the team still turned up for a training session at the vin condo stadium, only to be greeted by this shocking piece of news that will surely shred tay's 'commitment to team, not church' vow to bits.

tay was quoted as saying "you see ah, those girls are only like, twelve? thirteen? and they have already bags of experience in relationship problems. so i think their maturity should not be questioned. also, if you put it this way, fifteen is older than thirteen, which makes them MORE mature. i think you guys get my point la."

surely this is the reason why tay and leo have made up so quickly after the initial outburst. experts have given their expert point of view, saying that the spat was 'most probably a publicity stunt', and that 'ronaldinho tay could have a few teenaged girls in his closet'. as for tay's declaration speech "no matter what, training comes before anything. soccer is like bread and water and sex to me. i will skip even church to fulfil my commitment to the club", it's anyone's guess why there was a 'sex' word inside.

hoberto mancini has been remarkably calm so far, with only the words of advice, "please use precautions."

i apologise for this late message; i've been terribly busy with my own personal stuff, and prioritising just doesn't work in these instances. but anyway regarding tomorrow i've just smsed several of you guys. personally i think we should make the trip to queensway and settle our team jerseys, but since most are either 1) not responsive or 2) forgot about it, maybe we'll let it drag a 'lil longer.

- if we're talking about playing tomorrow, vin's house seems a very good place since it's near everyone. but it's very far for sum. so we'll try and settle by tonight. the weather's not fantastic, so please take care of yourselves. so far bob, yuxian, leo, congjing, zhipeng, wee leong are okay.

barely a week after declaring the end of transfers sagas, hoberto 'bai kar' mancini has sheepishly unveiled the latest team signing - maliangadou diafa.

diafa had been in the midst of speculation for a few weeks, with teams vying for his signature, as well as his catchy phrase 'i got lobangs on sundays one you know', giving him an untouchable aura. however, having played with him in the past, hoberto mancini knew it was too good an opportunity to miss, and has therefore signed him on loan for an undisclosed period of time.

review: with no opponents in mind, the team found themselves against a group of players speaking gibberish. upon further hearing and valiant attempts at communication, it was deduced that these dudes were indeed from the far away land of vietnam. having tasted only local delights so far, the team took on the biggest challenge so far - a team of technically gifted players from the neighbours up north.

the team's two new signings, wee leong and versatile defender/dm liangfa, were eager to prove themselves, and thus started in the backline, with the ever dependable sum as part of the rearguard. yewtze found his way to the middle of the battlefield, flanked by tay and the return of zhipeng on the left.

as mentioned, the opponents were unlike those of any of our previous encounters. for one thing, the vietnamese were terribly quick with their feet, played decisive passing and packed venom in their shots. the team found themselves on the back foot, with zp and tay being pressed back. however, this did not last for long, as the team's proposed strategy of attack was soon brought into equation. sum and liangfa soon provided the foil for our attacking play to spread out, and the tide was turned into one gargatuan wave of vengeance which engulfed the vietnamese (i'm saying this 'cos i can't recall the match proceedings)

can't really recall the goals too, except yewtze's shots from range, one delightful blast from far, zhipeng's two placed shots, and tay's two kio sais. when the team was on fire, it was really mesmerizing to watch. bob and leo played a significant part in defence, while jx had only a nice cut-in in five minutes of action.

linked up the play between defence and attack beautifully. battling a stomach flu (or so he says), the pesky dm was at the heart of every build-up, and was often the one taking the shot.

anyway skipping the emotional crap, it's nice to see someone else posting an entry. despite us playing the arsenal style (wingers [henry and van persie] playing along the rhythm of one playmaker [fabregas], with adventurous centre backs[leo and to a lesser extent sum]), i would prefer to win like man utd. but since it's impossible, let's just lose and become a more flamboyant team. lose with style man. man utd wins with style, but we don't have saha, darn it [think tay as rooney, zp as ronaldo, weedic as vidic, congjing as scholes, leo as ferdinand or richardson].

the team (still nameless cb) announced the transfer window signing of custodian edwee wee der leong today. the 20-yr old keeper, formerly of bukit panjang sch team, was released by saf recently last month, and has been unemployed since then, till now. the coup, orchestrated by team manager hoberto mancini, with the help of cesc fatzegas, marks the first time the team has had a pair of steady hands, and has been remarked by the gaffer as 'one of the important signings of the season.'

wee der leong, who only made his decision hours before this report, was quoted saying that he 'was very pleased with his decision,' and in an attempt to be humble 'i don't think i can contribute much except prevent goals from flowing in. that's not very important actually.' he has requested the number 13, and will now compete with occasional keepers gianluigi bobfon and jose leo chulavert for the position between the sticks.

hoberto mancini has confirmed that the wee der leong signing 'will be the only one' during the january transfer window, and has angrily refuted suggestions that his playing days are over.

i think we're getting along very nicely. today's training session was an accomplished one (special thanks to adrian pang lookalike and his gang of merry men), and of course some glitches here and there are inevitable, but the big picture looks positive.

will find some display boards to post here when i have the time, about our possible plays and tactics we would like to adopt and execute in actual play. maybe someone good with IT can help me here, or paint/clipart will suffice.

for the ill-gotten and barely-deserved benefit of those who didn't turn up with valid reasons, we're going to try something more pleasing to the eye. we're going to play like arsenal, even if it means going through a whole barrage of losses. which shouldn't happen, because our defence and attack is a whole lot better. arsenal can't score, but we can. arsenal can't defend, but we can.

after sustaining a near career-ending injury, bob is now officially the team cheerleader until further notice. please give him your support.

review: modest scoreline, due to tay's off day and a shortage of playing time. the carebears were without their star winger, but our side missed half a team, so go figure.

first real keeper in wee leong, with bob and sum in defence; yewtze took the dm slot, while guest player salas played behind the ever-marauding tay. salas was soon taken over by jx, who played the entire match without injury. last minute missing entry in wee theng, who disappeared. marcus had duty.

tactics in mind included a gameplan for long shots from bob, and more passing. and for a few moments, it worked.

sum was awesome in defence; together with bob the care attack was subdued. as mentioned tay had an off day, squandering chances he would normally have devoured. however, it was most probably due to lack of pressure. the bears were so pegged back and daunted by sum that tay was perpetually surrounded by two or three men, perhaps trying to emulate the treatment being dished out by our side. yew tze played well, complementing tay on a few occasions including the assist.

a beautiful cutback pass was slotted in by yew tze after nearly 20 mins of deadlock. tay got ball, weaved through two defenders and found the defensive midfielder for an emphatic finish. minutes later, the favour was returned as a through pass from yz was slammed home by tay. carebears were demoralised soon after, and the result was never in doubt. could have been more if bob wasn't injured.

match was then abandoned due to a pitch invasion by supporters, mostly nie legends players who wanted to play.

faultless defending. we are getting an embarassing assortment of riches in defence in leo, wt and bob, but sum takes the cake.

conclusion: we are really short-handed in attack. need zp badly. bob has a loose kneecap; he can't shoot that much anymore. more dimensions required, none forthcoming as for now. still, with a solid defence, we can rely on tay for the short term solution.

i've played with all their players before, but that was a few years back. so the current situation remains unknown. however, there is no harm in doing our best, and if we truly want to improve as a team, that's what we should do week in week out.

currentsituation: yuxian will lead our attack once again, with yew tze and marcus supporting. bob should take his usual role in front of the defence, made out of sum and wee theng. wee leong will provide our first steady keeper.

dangermen: as i far as i know, their star player tak wee is in canada. don't know if likoon is coming; he's fast and skillful. the rest i think you guys can handle. their defence is strong; as i said, their stamina is quite power, so don't waste too much energy trying to run around them, esp tay. should rely on long range shots, so that's where bob will come in. striker is yee hung, quite strong and enthu, so defence watch out. strength is crucial. check www.carebearunited.blogspot.com for details.

objective: different kind of opponent, different ball game. a more defensively set team. good exp for the forwards. pity zhipeng's out, or it'll be good training. maybe we can try a more passing sort of game, instead of relying on long balls and long shots. will put yewtze in charge of that.. leo's not here, good time for sum and wee theng to build some understanding.

the tall, sturdy defender has been criticized lately for his no-shows during team matches. among the team, captain ronaldinho tay has voiced displeasure at his absence, with strong words like 'i think you should commit more leh..' and 'make your sats free mah', no doubt targeting the controversial decision made last monday.

in a press conference of 1.000, leo stated 'work stress' and a 'hectic schedule' as reasons for his apparently non-commital front.

"i would like to say that, it's very hard for me to explain why i can't show up," stated leo. "i mean, i don't get paid like those superstars on tv. i need to feed myself man. also, my agent plans my crazy schedule, and i don't know why i keep teaching young children on my agenda, but no doubt my agent knows what's good for me, so you guys can all **** off. yep i got nothing to say anymore."

there has been recent talk of a friendly match against carebear united. the hwachong-based team, having recently matched nie legends and kimchi united, are reputed to be a very energetic outfit, with several extremely fit players, cross country runners in their younger days.

from the extensive pool of ten players, three have stated immediate unavailability. newly crowned world player of his year leo chunavaro is once again on compassionate leave. cristiano zhipengo has a testimonial match back at former team ajc, while roberto congjing carlos is away in france attending a conference.

however, the good news is that walter sumuel and nemanjang weedic have declared themselves ready for the match, ensuring that no matter what, there is a solid backline. bobby gerrard has pledged his cannonballs for saturday, and ronaldinho tay will be smarting from his loss in the recent poll; all the better for the team, all the worse for the opposition. yew tzavi will control the middle of the park, and trialist marcus pires will want to impress. also on loan is edwin wee der leong, who will keep for sat, ending a long time problem for the still-nameless team.

another selection crisis ahead of tomorrow's friendly against the nie legends. walter sumuel and leo chunavaro have ruled themselves out of the clash due to family/friends commitments, while bobby gerrard seems to be busy somewhere, leaving nemanjang weedic as the only recognised defender.

fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of new signing yew 'xavi' tze, who after internal mangerial discussion, decided that no trial was needed ( 'we are short of players anyway' mourinhong). the enterprising midfielder/sweeper will be much focused on due to the hype created by rumour-mongers. the staff are hoping his passing will open up tomorrow's opposition, as well as make up for joe ho's total ineptness. the injury-prone winger has declared that he is'ready', but did not specify what he was ready for.

much touted frontline pairing of ronaldinho tay and simuel eto'o will take the court tomorrow, and the team is hoping their partnership will bear fruit. for the match, as the wise man says, since no defence, might as well just attack and die, hence the team will follow his wise words. a spokesman has also hinted that if simuel eto'o can't score, he can revert 'back to zhipengo, as well as go for shooting practice." Attempts to loan players have fallen through, but since there's no turning back, let's just treat it as a session for attacking. build for the future, not for the present.

whatactuallyhappened: the outcome of today was that we did manage to hold against a team of older and bigger guys. think you guys may not know, but those were my seniors, and they're not bad. so it's a good sign.

yew tze settled in quite well, thengz looks a solid fit for leo and sum. missed some hard shots as a form of attack, and zhipeng's not fully fit yet. both of us have lost our toenails. so next week will prove crucial. everyone get together, and we'll take on either of the teams challenging us. permanent keeper still found wanting.

nie legends has challenged us again. not sure whether the very first match was the first leg, and the one we played the second, but i guess we'll just forget about the 10-2 one. always nicer to start uphill, and it shouldn't be too much of a problem. leo can be either leo chunavaro or jose leo chulavert.. so keeper is not an issue. if only we can settle these question marks...

star foward ronaldinho tay has played down the impact he has made since joining from team watch-your-front, and has voiced out concern regarding the team's seemingly one-dimensional form of attack.

"i think everyone played quite well, and ya, their defence was reaaallly off that day," said the ever-modest tay. "not everyone can stop ronaldinho, which is me, ya.. but they tried. i'm really pleased with my mom award."

"we definitely need more bite in attack, and bobby gerrard needs to shoot more. yea that's all i have to say."

review: flattering scoreline that would not have been; alaric hit the post for NIE, while tay went on a kio sai rampage, joined in gleefully by bob.

the team started with bernard chu (leo's bro) as keeper, leo and new signing sum in defence, jx on the left flank, bob in the middle, with last minute loan congjin in attack. star player tay missed his flight due to oversleeping, hence we were forced to rotate between bk player/ak coach el salas lim and the bai kar jx. the other new signing, defensive midfielder yew tse, missed the match due to fever.

basically bob just terrified the opposition with his obscenely powerful shots till tay ran in with his canvas shoes. sum showed why he has been labelled "hardman" with a masterful display of defending, while right-footer congjin scored a couple of beauties with his left foot. tay's arrival proved simply too much for the opposition. can't remember the rest.

important things first. match coming up this saturday against the only team we've ever played against. it's their homeground, their home fans; face it, it's for them to lose it. after a couple of rubbish training sessions at vin's house, i'm sure we are ready la. but this phase has to end somewhere, and there's no better place than where it all began.

update now: first five still here, the other three are gone. xh and tl (kanu) are part of team WYF, which we are going to challenge sooner or later.
